In 2022, our telecommunications client rebranded with an external agency’s help. As their web design partner, we updated their website to reflect their new bold branding. We recognized the need for a comprehensive design system to increase efficiency and consistency for future use.

Discovery & Research
During the redesign, we sought inspiration from industry leaders like Xfinity and Airbnb. Their similarities to our client’s industry and the quality of their design libraries provided valuable insights.
By building on this foundation, we were able to create a robust and effective design system for our client.

Design Principles
Our client operated in Residential and Business sectors, distinguished by their use of color and unique branding elements.
We ensured our design system was flexible and user-friendly by applying specific properties to each sector.

Guidelines
The initial elements that were integrated into the design system were the color scheme and font styles of the updated branding.

Implementation & Adoption
To maintain an organized and uncluttered file, we established individual pages for each component and its variants.
By identifying the components, we knew the different instances, variants, and properties we needed to implement.

Wrap Up
Developing the design system cut our screen design effort in half, made our designs more efficient and consistent, and helped us get products to market 30% faster.
Focusing on user-centered design principles increased positive feedback from customers by 20%.
